A selection of works exploring light, atmosphere and place.
Ros Koch is a British-born, South African-based artist who lives and works in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
As a fine artist, she enjoys alternating her focus from Nature at large to the humans who inhabit it.
Much of her work over the last decade has been directly inspired by Nature, and features predominantly land and sky scapes, choosing oil paint and watercolour to capture the light, atmosphere and physicality of her surroundings.
Sometimes her work evolves into something less site-specific, and more universal, inviting the viewer to pause and to feel a deeper sense of presence and connection.
She enjoys the variety provided by taking on occasional commission work as well as the opportunity to switch to figurative and portraiture work which allows her the chance to capturing the essence of a person, in quiet everyday moments.
